RustChinaConf 2026
Code of Conduct
RustChinaConf is committed to a welcoming, safe, and respectful experience for everyone. This Code of Conduct applies to all conference spaces and interactions connected to the event.
Our commitment
We welcome participants regardless of experience level, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, personal appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, age, religion, or any other personal characteristic.
Everyone participating in RustChinaConf is expected to help create an environment where technical disagreement can be direct, curious, and respectful.
Expected behaviour
Be considerate in speech and action. Make room for people to contribute, give and receive feedback constructively, and respect requests to stop a conversation or behaviour.
- Assume good intent while addressing impact when it is raised.
- Keep discussions focused on ideas, evidence, and the work rather than personal attacks.
- Ask before recording, photographing, or sharing personal information about another participant.
Unacceptable behaviour
Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, stalking, deliberate disruption, or unwanted sexual attention are not acceptable. This includes online behaviour as well as conduct in person.
- Derogatory comments or slurs related to a protected or personal characteristic.
- Threats, sustained interruption, following someone, or unwanted physical contact.
- Sexualised images or language in public spaces, or unwelcome sexual attention.
- Sharing another person's private information without their permission.
Where this applies
This Code of Conduct applies at the venue, in hallway conversations, demos, office hours, themed lunch tables, official social events, and any online spaces or messages used for the conference.
Sponsors, speakers, volunteers, staff, and attendees are all expected to follow it.
Reporting a concern
If you experience or witness a violation, contact the conference team as soon as you can. You do not need to confront the person involved. Include what happened, where and when it happened, and any information that may help us respond safely.
Reports are handled as privately as possible. We will only share information with people who need it to investigate or respond, unless there is an immediate safety or legal reason to do otherwise.
How we respond
The conference team will review reports promptly and choose a response proportionate to the situation. Responses may include a conversation, a warning, removal from a session or event, or removal from the conference without a refund.
If you feel unsafe, please seek help from venue staff or local emergency services first, then notify the conference team when it is safe to do so.
Recording and publication
Conference sessions may be recorded and published as described in the speaker agreement. Participants should not record or publish another participant's personal information or private conversations without permission.
